Puerto Rico is dedicated to providing quality educational opportunities that allow students to achieve higher standards of excellence. The University of Puerto Rico (UPR) Mayagüez Campus, for example, ranks 1st in graduating Hispanic engineers, 2nd in graduating women engineers, 1st in the number of graduated chemical engineers and 11th in granting chemical engineering master degrees among U.S. institutions.
- Six out of every 10 college degrees awarded in science and engineering programs are awarded to women.
- The UPR Mayagüez Campus ranks 17 among the top 20 engineering schools with bachelor degrees granted to women in undergraduate enrollment in the U.S. This represents 31.4% of all bachelor degrees granted by the UPR Mayagüez Campus.
- In chemical engineering awarded degrees, the UPR Mayagüez Campus ranks 15 among the top 20 chemical engineering schools in the US.
- In civil engineering, the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico ranks 16 among the top 20 civil engineering schools. The UPR Mayagüez Campus ranks in the 23rd position. In electrical engineering, the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico also ranks in the 23rd position and 27th in computer engineering degrees awarded.
- In Industrial/Manufacturing engineering awarded degrees, The UPR Mayagüez Campus, ranks 11, 25th in electrical engineering, 43rd in mechanical engineering and 14th in computer engineering degrees awarded.
- Approximately 25,000 bachelor degrees and 5,000 post-graduate degrees in science are awarded annually.
The UPR Mayagüez Campus, ranks 17th in undergraduate enrollment by schools and the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico ranks 33rd.
