Weatherization Assistance Program

This Program, created in 1976, consists of helping low-income families achieve a reduction in domestic energy consumption, with the replacement of efficient equipment and measures in their homes. In 2009 Puerto Rico was included for the first time in the Program. To comply with the WAP requirements, the Department of Economic Development and Commerce, the Energy Public Policy Program (hereinafter, the “PPPE”), held a Public Hearing on April 24, 2020, to request comments on the State Plan for the Weatherization Assistance (hereinafter, the "State Plan"), to be submitted to the United States Department of Energy (DOE).

A copy of the proposed State Plan will be available from April 22, 2020, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. at 4:30 p.m., at the PPPE Office, located at # 355 Ave. F.D. Roosevelt, Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. If you need the Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan e-mailed to you, please contact us at wap@ddec.pr.gov.

Written comments on the State Plan for the WAP program will be received at the PPPE offices at the address indicated above or via email wap@ddec.pr.gov, no later than 4:00 p.m. April 24, 2020.

The purpose of this Public Hearing is to inform the general public about the status and changes in the Puerto Rico Weatherization Assistance Program, also known as the "Puerto Rico Weatherization Assistance Program," by its English name. Hereinafter, the “Program” or “WAP” for WAP PY 2020.
